Several members of the Saratoga varsity hockey team had belongings, including cash and one player’s phone, stolen from the locker room during a home game against rival Shenendehowa on Thursday night. The Saratoga Springs police are currently investigating the incident, according to police Lt. Robert Jillson.

Matt Klingbeil ’14 had his phone taken from the locker room. “A bunch of people lost money but I didn’t have any on me so they took my phone,” he said.

“It has happened before when we’ve played Shen in the past,” said goaltender Zack Jones ’14. Coach Dave Torres confirmed Monday night that a similar incident occured at an away game at Shenedehowa two years ago.

“It is very unfortunate this took place to our reigning state champions in their home arena,” said Jillson. He added that anyone with information on the incident should contact the police department at (518) 584-1800.
