The annual All Stars art exhibition will feature student artists from Saratoga, Fulton and Montgomery counties from January 13th to February 10th, 2018, at the Saratoga Arts Center. The exhibition will feature pieces, selected by teachers, of all media forms ranging in sculpture to drawings.

The show features exceptional student art throughout the county. “My piece was a photo of a clay pot that I molded and painted”and “featured coordinated color patterns, zentangles and detailed shaping that I feel that I was able to really master” said Saratoga sophomore Kristi Briscoe.

“I made a partial pencil drawing with added color throughout the piece and watercolor bubbles coming up behind the portrait” said Saratoga senior Julianna Bovino. “I was pretty happy to see my piece in the show because you know like it was cool”

In all, these pieces ranged in material and the time it took to successfully complete the projects. Times ranged from 2 hours to 10 hours. “My Calvin and Hobbes cartoon took me about 3 to 4 classes to total about 2 hours” said Saratoga senior Jillian Zick.

“I used a lot of color and it taught me how to use reference pictures within my pieces” Zick said.

Art is continually beneficial to help learn new technique and skills. The art show is a good way to recognize those skills as well as get new ideas from other artists.

Despite the recognition, every art student gets the feeling of awe at the sight of amazing pieces noticing the detail and time put into the piece. “I felt undeserving that my piece was selected because the others were really good” said Briscoe.

The art center will open the exhibition with an opening reception on Saturday, January 13th from 3pm to 5pm. The gallery will be open from January 13th to February 10th with free admission. Students are always encouraged to attend the show and see not only their own work but also that of other young artists.
