Sahiba Says: A Final Goodbye (I Know You’ll Miss Me)

June 13, 2024 by Sahiba Jassal (‘24)

Hello to the students, teachers, and staff of SSHS… but the biggest greeting goes to my fellow graduating seniors. We did it. *long pause, look proud, hand to heart* We made it to the end of the ‘23-‘24 school year. *2nd long pause* Despite the numerous twists and turns of the year, we made it out alive- or at least some of us did! Hahahahahaha. *point to Matt Digeso and wait for audience laughter* Through the rivers we climbed and the mountains we swam. We persevered. I was always told -insert vague sentiment- as a child. I’m only now realizing as I stand here before you all that -aforementioned vague sentiment- really meant something else. Yes, it was talking about how we’ll all go through peaks and troughs in our lives, but what I’ve come to realize is the deeper meaning. These peaks and troughs- nay- HILLS AND VALLEYS all have one thing in common: us. We must face our armor to find what lies beneath. If you shed the mask and learn about your true self? Just imagine the places you’ll go. Be the change you wish to see in the world. Thank you. Good afternoon, good evening, and goodnight!
