Varsity tennis players Clare Dooley and Addison Jones progressed to the NYS Section 2 Championships this October, both securing plaques created by the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA).
Both important singles players of SSHS’s Girls Varsity Tennis team, the girls have been working hard all season to advance to the Sectionals tournaments.
The school team had an exceptional regular season, coming in undefeated 12-0 by the Sectional playoffs. Around 30 girls participated this year, consisting of high school juniors and seniors apart from one eighth grader (Clare Dooley), who took up singles, doubles, and exhibition spots that fluctuated based on individual player progress throughout the season.
Being a member of the Fall 2024 Girls Tennis season, I can say that all our players improved greatly as the season progressed. The team’s athletic skills were refined, and friendships were established, which are the core principles of founding a dynamic and powerful team.
The season finished with their Senior Night, where teammates created posters for the graduating members and pictures were taken, as well as a Tennis Banquet at the Saratoga Golf and Polo Club.
Once again, we congratulate Addison and Clare on their successful seasons and wish them the best of luck in out-of-school tennis events and next fall!
