November 24, 2024 by Ava Tatum (‘25)

As we start creeping into the winter months, everyone’s style is changing a little. Whether you’ve broken out the winter coats or are still trying to hold onto hoodie season, your unique style matters. This week I interviewed five students about their outfits in the hopes that I can learn more about fashion at Toga.

[Q] What advice would you give to someone who is developing their style?

[A] “Shop at thrift stores and reuse items that you wouldn’t normally use. Go outside your boundaries.”

Regan Martin, (25’)

[Q] Who/what inspires your style?

[A] “I love Tim Burton and Monster High, I grew up with both, so they really inspired my style. I also like Elvira, Svengoolie, and metal.”

[Q] Describe your style in 3 words

[A] “Alternative. Edgy. Vampire.”

[Q] What’s a wardrobe staple of yours?

[A] “I always have my librarian gothy glasses. I also like my outfits to be very sharp.”

[Q] How has your style evolved over the years

[A] “I feel like I used to look weird freshman year because I tried to cling onto microtrends. I think I just wanted to be anybody but myself, but slowly I started to evolve.”

[Q] What fashion trend do you wish made a comeback?

[A] “I think the 1930s fashion trends like flapper dresses should come back. I think those years were when women really showed themselves and what they could be.”

[Q] What advice would you give to someone who is developing their style?

[A] “Avoid fast fashion, it can really mess up your style. If you’re wearing clothes that aren’t well made, they don’t feel or look good. There are a lot of cheap options out there and it’s just not flattering.”

[Q] What advice would you give to someone who is developing their style?
