The 2024-2025 school year has ended, and with this, the Saratoga Springs High School Student Council has been decided for the 2025-2026 school year, with this new leadership team ready to bring fresh energy and big ideas to our school in an impactful way.
Sophia Allen has been elected as Student Council President, with her platform centered on school spirit and inclusivity.
“I want to be president because I’m passionate about school spirit, inclusion, and getting more students involved,” said Allen.
A big goal of hers is to make this year count for the upcoming seniors, saying, “as your student council president, I will make sure our seniors enjoy every minute we have with each other. I will encourage the whole school to get more involved in our sporting events, giving them the energy and crowds they deserve… I promise to work with all of you to create a year full of spirit, fun, inclusivity, and memories that will last a lifetime.”
Joining Allen, is newly-elected Vice President Madison Finn, an established leader with years of experience. “I’ve been Vice President of my class for two years and a student rep before that, and I’m ready to take it further,” she said. “I want to help give back to our community and bring fun, high-energy events to our school that boost spirit and make senior year the best yet.”
The position of Secretary will be held by Roisin Finnegan, Treasurer will be Mia Khazin, and Nicole Sultan will serve as SSHS’ Public Relations Officer.
The race for the two spots of Board of Education Representative resulted in a joint win for Olivia Howe and Sydney Balzer. Both students bring a strong voice and vision for student advocacy into this upcoming school year.
“I was a student representative for the 2024–2025 school year and it was an amazing experience,” said Olivia Howe. “I got to meet the seniors who led this year’s council and helped them throughout the year. I was lucky enough to be invited to the Student Council Leadership Conference… which really inspired me to keep advocating for my school and all of us students.”
Sydney Balzer sees the importance of student voices in a successful leadership team. “I [ran] Board of Ed Representative because I believe having student voices in our school is important and advocating for what the students would like to see happening,” she said. “I would like to help gain more attendance at student events and more participation for fundraisers to help support future events.”
These two Board of Education Representative-elects plan to bring new ideas to the Board, with hopes of creating improvements to the school life of SSHS’s student body. This team of student leaders seem excited and ready to bring new ideas filled with Toga spirit, unity, and change.
