America Finished 2nd at the 2026 Winter Olympics, But Who Got Them There?

Over the course of the 2026 Winter Olympics, Team USA showed their prowess and delivered a spectacular performance. With a total accumulation of 33 medals: 12 gold, 12 silver, and 9 bronze medals. These 12 gold medals marked Team USA’s best gold medal performance to date while the total 33 medals landed the U.S. in second. But who are these American athletes dominating the rinks, slopes, and snowy landscapes? 

  1. Alex Ferreira, Men’s Free Ski Halfpipe 

31-year-old Alex Ferreira captured his first Olympic gold at the 2026 Winter Olympics, dominating the men’s free ski halfpipe. 

  1. Alysa Liu, Women’s Figure Skating  

Alysa Liu stole the hearts of fans around the world through her supportive energy, unique style, and magnetizing performances. Coming out of retirement, this 20-year-old figure skater won her first Olympic medal.  

  1. Breezy Johnson, Women’s Downhill Alpine Skiing  

After missing the 2022 Winter Olympics due to an injury, this 30-year-old downhill skier and two-time Olympian returned with determination, winning her first Olympic Gold.  

  1. Elana Meyers Taylor, Women’s Single Bobsleigh 

This 41-year-old athlete has competed in the Winter Olympics since 2010 and as of 2026 she is the oldest athlete to win a gold medal at the Winter Olympics.  

  1. Elizabeth Lemley, Freestyle Skiing Women’s Moguls 

At only 20 years old, Lemley earned her first Winter Olympic Medal, building on her previous success at the Winter Youth Olympics.  

   6 and 7. Jordan Stolz, Men’s Speed Skating 

Jordan Stolz earned the United States two gold medals as he finished in first for both the 500m and 1000m speed skates. By securing two titles, he solidified his status as one of the fastest skaters in the world.  

  1. Mikaela Shiffrin, Women’s Slalom  

This 30-year-old Colorado born athlete dominated the Women’s Slalom winning her 19th global medal. As the most decorated female alpine skier, this medal only further proved her talent and expertise.  

  1. Mixed Team Ski Aerials 

This mixed skiing team consisted of Kaila Kuhn, Christopher Lilli, and Connor Curran. While none of these athletes placed on the podium for the individual men’s or women’s finals, they were able to win gold in the mixed event.  

  1. U.S. Figure Skating Team 

Collectively Ilia Malinin, Alysa Liu, Amber Glenn, Madison Chock, Evan Bates, Ellie Kam and Danny O’Shea contributed to this power-house of a team and consequential gold medal.  

  1. U.S. Men’s Hockey Team 

In a riveting final game against Canada, the U.S. men’s hockey team secured gold against Canada with a final score of 2-1. The first U.S. goal by Matt Boldy and the winning point by Jack Hughes.  

  1. U.S. Women’s Hockey Team 

The intense final game of Team USA vs Team Canada had viewers on the edge of their seats. Canada initially dominated the game, however with 2:04 left on the clock Hilary Knight scored, changing the tide of the game. From there, Megan Keller was able to score in overtime, ending with an American victory.
