-Kansas Enacts Law Invalidating over 1,000 Trans Individuals’ Personal Identification Documents: In Kansas, over 1,000 transgender individuals now have invalid driver’s licenses and birth certificates, after Senate Bill 244 went into effect on February 26. This law has banned the changes of sex markers on documents, which have the purpose of allowing one’s gender identity to match their personal documents. Senate Bill 244 “retroactively invalidates driver’s licenses with updated gender markers that were legally obtained” said USA Today. This is not the first of these laws enacted in America, as Kansas is following suit to Texas, Florida and Tennessee, states who have already begun prohibiting the updates on gender markers on driver’s licenses, but Kansas has become the first state to do so retroactively.

-US-Israeli Attack this Weekend Intensifies Conflict with Iran: On Saturday, February 28, the United States and Israel launched a major attack on Iran, bombings which killed the country’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. This intervention in Iran is the second time in eight months that U.S. President Trump has used military force against the Islamic Republic, a leadership that has been in place in Iran since 1979. With more violence continuing into the rest of the weekend, the death toll in the nation has increased and Iran has now begun fighting back, firing drones and missiles at Israel. Following the death of Ali Khamenei, Masoud Pezeshkian has assumed more power in his role of Iranian leader while the role of Supreme Leader is temporarily vacant. This military move made by the Trump Administration and Isreal has put a large strain on America’s relationship with Iran, only fueling the fire of foreign conflict.
