Meryl Streep’s comments on Donald Trump at the 2017 Golden Globes wasn’t the only newsworthy occurrence. As always, there was a large number of celebrities intending to steal the show with their red carpet looks. Some celebrities succeeded at this endeavor while other failed miserably. Here are the best and worst looks according to surveys taken by Saratoga Springs High School students.
In the running for best dressed was Jennifer Lawrence, Zendaya, Emma Stone, and Lily Collins. Jennifer Lawrence came out on top with most of the votes going to her Christian Dior red sleeveless dress. This scarlet, floor length dress stood out because of its exquisite cut-outs that showed off her back and waist. The dress also had a tasteful split on the back which revealed her legs when she walked. Paired with Chopard Jewelry and Roger Vivier platform heels she became one of the most eye catching of the night. The impeccable choice of color brought out her blonde hair and created a look that truly looked like it was made for her.
The worst dress went to Zoe Saldana out of Carrie Underwood, Janelle Monae, and Karrueche Tran. This was a huge turn around after she had won the best dressed last year in our school surveys on the Oscars looks. This year her pink two tone Gucci dress failed to impress. The dress itself was covered in unflattering ruffles, and the two separate pinks were tied together with a dull purple bow.
This year’s Golden Globes show had plenty of interesting moments especially when it came to the red carpet. It will be interesting to see what happens at the Oscars.
