Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania is the introduction to Marvel’s next cinematic phase, the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). This was the first time the audience has seen Ant-Man, The Wasp, and company since 2019’s Avengers: Endgame.
Personally, I loved it, although it wasn’t anything groundbreaking. If you’re looking to watch it and expecting awesome cinematography or earth-shattering acting, this won’t be your movie. However, it’s a fun film to watch, if simple enjoyment is what you’re going for when movie night rolls around. The whole movie felt like a comic book, making it the perfect combination of both styles of Marvel media.
With the introduction of Modok, a character originally found in a comic setting, the MCU is embracing its original goofy nature. Many characters in the Marvel comics are unique in their design, so if the MCU seeks to introduce them, it won’t be easy to make them come to life without embracing the strange side of their character.
Aside from this lighthearted way of showcasing its personality, it also sets up some major storylines for the movies that follow. Quantumania does a good job of keeping the viewer engaged, even during the aftermath of the major battle. Personally, I’ve been disengaged with the recent Marvel projects, but Quantumania managed to turn the tides. Overall, this movie was a fun and enjoyable experience. If that’s what you’re looking to see in theaters in the upcoming weeks, Quantumania will check all the boxes.
