Spring in Saratoga: Hikes, Shops, and Local Favorites

April 20, 2026 by Kayla Magnus (‘29)

As we know Saratoga is a city adored by many year-round. But, sometimes it can get quite boring if you have nothing to do. So, now that spring is here, here are some fun things to do in the springtime:

Nature Excursions

-The Spring Run Trail is an about three mile walk that is very accessible for people of any age. It is paved and very beautiful, surrounded by foliage and a small river to the side.

-Lake Bonita is a bit longer of a walk but is even more scenic as it takes you around a beautiful lake where you walk/mildly hike on rocks, in the woods, and grass while looking out to the water.

-The Spa Park is always a good choice if you want to walk around, golf, visit the springs, or even swim in one of their pools in the summer. The trails around the park have lots of variety in difficulty and length- there’s a trail for everyone.

– Bog Meadow Brook is a wonderful nature walk that is very beautiful and perfect for anyone who wants to spend time in the woods.

-Pitney Meadows is a lovely and well known farm near the high school where there are many beautiful flowers and plants to look at along with acres to walk around.

-The Kayak Shak on Saratoga lake is a wonderful place to rent a kayak or paddleboard and hang out on the water. Definitely not time for swimming just yet, but being out there on the lake is really fun on its own. And while you’re there, grab a bite to eat at Harvest & Hearth; in my opinion they might have the best pizza in town.

-Picnics are also a very easy and fun thing to do at literally any park in Saratoga. Spa State Park, Congress Park, any you can find.

Shopping

-The Saratoga Farmers Market is such a fun Saturday activity for anyone looking to buy some fresh produce, beautiful flowers, delicious food, and many more homemade items. It is a staple in Saratoga for bringing locals together and is a great way to support small businesses in the area.

-Broadway has so many cute boutiques, coffee shops, and more to look at. However, walking around downtown in the winter can be a quite unpleasant experience in the cold, but in the springtime it’s very enjoyable with the season’s bustle of people and taste of Saratoga summer magic we all know and love.

-Sunnyside Gardens is a great place to buy any plants or flowers you want for your house and is very fitting with the spring vibe. They have so much variety in what they offer and it is such a welcoming place. With their pumpkins, corn maze, cider donuts and plethora of chrysanthemums in the fall, christmas trees, wreaths, bows, and poinsettias in the winter, and their many seeds packets of fruits and vegetables, daisies, tulips, succulents, and more in the spring and summer, you can never go wrong with Sunnyside.
