I toured the University of Connecticut’s Storrs campus and really enjoyed it. Here’s some reasons you might like it too.
The grounds are huge, which adds to the whole college experience. There was always something going on, making it feel very lively. I also enjoyed the environment and the campus life. Our tour guide was fantastic and gave us a good perspective of what being a student there is actually like, aside from the usual fluff tour guides give you.
Another thing that stood out to me was the academics. They offer many academic programs for all types of majors. UConn stands out as a great place for those interested in pre-med track or those interested in studying biology.
Another thing that caught my eye was the bookstore, or the school store. It was very expansive and had a ton of UConn clothing along with other amenities. As someone who loves college merch, that was definitely a highlight.
UConn has a spirited student body and overall environment. Sports have a huge contribution to that school spirit. Especially popular is their basketball program. Games bring in a lot of energy and excitement from the students and community.
One possible downside of the school is UConn’s location in Storrs. Those looking for a north-eastern, rural, traditional vibe could be very attractive to UConns surroundings. For people who want to be surrounded by a city, with more opportunities at hand, this could be a little issue. Nearby cities are still easily accessible by car or train, so those other opportunities aren’t completely out of the question.
UConn has a long list of pros, from the large campus and active student life to its academics and school spirit. Overall, UConn is definitely a college worth looking at if you’re looking for a lively campus with a strong campus life.
