October at Caffe Lena

Oct. 8, 2026 by Violet Hoke (‘27)

Caffè Lena is a historic folk music venue established in 1960, making it the oldest continuously operating venue of its kind in the US. It has hosted legends such as Bob Dylan and Arlo Guthrie. Below are some top picks for great shows in October!

Artist Michael Jerling has a special way of finding a song in the places that most overlook. With wit, a warm voice, and a sharp eye for the messy and unexpectedly beautiful parts of life, he turns things people see every day into memorable songs. Mixes of thoughtful storytelling, musical range merge together in one performance that feels like spending an evening with not just a musician, but a master of storytelling.

What happens when four musicians with vastly different backgrounds make music together? Forsyth. Their sound brings traditional Celtic energy together with beautiful harmonies, adventurous arrangements, and a distinctly modern sensibility. Using fiddle, guitar, tenor guitar, and four unique voices, they make old songs feel new!

Along with providing live music, Caffè Lena additionally hosts open mic nights each month. These open mics are diverse and filled with likeminded people that are eager to hear other people’s works of art. People read poems, short stories, play songs, and more to showcase upcoming talents, or even something casual like a poem you wrote in English that you’re proud of! Come down and share something you’re proud of, support a friend, or come listen to other people braving the stage at a Caffè Lena open mic night.
